Murata Yōdō (Murata Ichirō) was born March 5, 1894 in Tokyo. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under his Kawase Junsuke I, Uchida Shūdō, and Katō Yūdō. He began teaching in 1945. He is a Rofū-kai executive. He was a teacher and performer for more than 60 years.
