Masuda Rinryō (Masuda Teruo) was born August 8th, 1914 in Kumamoto Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Harada Ōdō, Watanabe Godō, and Yamauchi Rinshū. In 1957, he became the sponsor that established the Chikuyu-kai within the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation. He belonged to the Rinkō-kai.
