Born January 17, 1906 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Okuda Nobuo studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ohara Kyodō and Fujii Kodō (Kawase lineage). He belonged to the Nagasaki Chikuei-kai. He was active in the shakuhachi world for more than 50 years.
