Kurosawa Kinko VIII (Kurosawa Teiichi) was born January 15, 1927 in Tokyo. As a member of Chikuyu-sha, he studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kawase Junsuke II and began teaching in 1960. He was also affiliated with the Tama Shakuhachi-kai. He was the first Kurosawa Kinko since Kinko IV to re-establish the family connection to the Kinko-ryū shakuhachi lineage and legacy. In 1970, while he was the family head, a special tombstone commemorating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Kinko-ryū was dedicated at the Kurosawa family gravesite at Tama-Reien cemetery near Tokyo. Kinko VIII passed away on August 7, 2004.
