Shakuhachi
Born in Niigata City in 1897, Abe Kadō (given name Kyōsuke) Began studying shakuhachi with Mikami Seiichi in 1916. In 1922 he became a member of Chikuyusha, studying under Kawase Junsuke I. In 1930 he began teaching and, that same year, he also began his studies of the Kinpū-ryū honkyoku with Tsushima Koshō in Aomori City. He was the executive director of the Hokkaido Kinko-ryū branch of Chikuyusha and a member of the Hokkaido Sankyoku Kyōkai. He was deeply passionate about teaching and disseminating the traditional music of the shakuhachi in order to convey it to as many people as possible.
