Matsumori Ishū (Matsumori Yoshimi) was born December 20th, 1919 in Iwate Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Miura Izan (Hosoda Yōzan lineage) and started teaching in 1966. He was Tozan-ryū Takegi City Secretary.
