Izumiyama Shoko
Shoko Izumiyama began studying the koto at the age of 10, and her teachers have included Tadao and Kazue Sawai. In 1978 she was a finalist in the All-Japan Sankyoku Music Concours and in 1980 she was awarded 2nd place in the Pan-Music "Contemporary Music for Traditional Instruments" Concours ensemble division. She toured the United States in 1980 and 1994, and she is currently active as a teacher and performer in Tokyo and Sapporo.
